Creating a Classroom Website

Workshop Day 5 - Friday


Topics: Fine tuning the classroom website, adding more details and functionality, evaluation, questions and answers

Prerequisite Knowledge: Teachers must have completed Days 1-4 of the workshop and have their classroom website started, with attachments and images.

Content: This final day of the workshop is intended to wrap up activities and evaluate our progress on our websites. This day will serve as a day to publish the sites (they can be modified continuously) and add additional material to it as needed.

Objectives:
1. Teachers will reflect on their classroom website.
2. Teachers will add more resources to their classroom website page.
3. Teachers will publish, or active their website.
4. Teachers will complete the course evaluation.

Instructional Method: The workshop will be taught with a mix of , using active links, regrouping, and independent work. See agenda below.

Materials: All supplies provided.

Evaluation: Course evaluation form will be completed at the end of the day.

Friday Agenda

8:00-9:00 Welcome to the last day of the course. This day is exciting, as we will evaluate our own websites and modify them to create the best webpage possible to represent our classroom. Use this first hour to log into the web page and add any information you would like.

9:00-11:00 Adding links.
1. Open your Yola webpage.

2. Click on the page so the Widget box appears. Click and drag the Text button to the area where you would like the link to appear.

3. When the text dialog box opens, you will see the formatting bar open. Click the link button and add the url by typing it our pasting the url into the box.
Select the "External Link" box.



Now you can add external resources to your webpage.

Next, we are going to evaluate our own websites. Remember that Quality Website checklist we did earlier? Let's do it for our own site. Not all categories may apply, but consider whether or not you need it in your site. Please complete this form:

12:00-2:00 Publish our Site
1. It is time to make our site live and active for view by the public. Click on the "Publish to the Web" button and go through the steps.

2. Now that the site is published, you may find areas that need improvement or ones that are lacking detail. You may go back in and edit at any time!
